He urged supporters to stay patient and give the squad time to adjust, acknowledging that any major managerial change inevitably involves initial growing pains.

Klopp told ESPN, “I’m not close enough to judge what happened with Slot’s exit. I was thrilled they won the league a year earlier, and I have no idea what went wrong last season.”

He added, “Nobody was satisfied with the season—that was clear. Yet they still qualified for the Champions League, which is a significant achievement. Now you can bring in a new manager, Andoni Iraola, who is also a strong coach, just like Arne Slot was, but things must click.”

He said, “It needs to work together for the long haul, and that requires luck. The last season is finished, and they can now focus on the future.”

Iraola’s spell at AFC Bournemouth proved highly successful, culminating in a historic sixth-place finish and qualification for the Europa League in the 2025/26 season.

The Cherries steadily climbed the table each year, ending 12th in 2023/24, 9th in 2024/25, and 6th in 2025/26. The final campaign featured an impressive 18‑match unbeaten streak.
