The Chairman of Danko‑Wasagu Local Government Area in Kebbi State and a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hussaini Aliyu Bena, has denied rumors that a political split is occurring within the state government. The rumors claim that the state administration has selected a single candidate for the Zuru/Sakaba/Fakai/Danko‑Wasagu Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections.
Bena called the reports “false,” stating that Governor Nasir Idris has not appointed any candidate. He said that all APC aspirants are free to contest the party’s nomination without interference.
The statement was made during an event in Birnin Kebbi, where Bena said the allegations were being spread by people outside the APC and by those who oppose the state government’s developmental agenda.
He added that Governor Idris’s administration remains committed to internal democracy and to ensuring fair political competition within the party.
Bena urged APC members in the state to ignore the misleading social‑media content, asserting that such narratives would not harm party unity in the region.
