The Kano State Hisbah Board detained two women and a man for alleged participation in immoral activities at a housing estate in Kano.
The raid took place at the Sheikh Muhammad Nasiru Kabara housing estate, commonly called Bandirawo estate, on Daura Road in Kano.
According to board officials, the operation was led by Commander of CSH Hafizu Garba Adakawa.
Among those arrested was Khadija Ahmad, a 30‑year‑old woman from Rimi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Khadija reportedly told officials that she lived in the apartment with her children and that she sometimes rented rooms to individuals for prostitution in return for payment.
She further claimed that the house had originally been given to her by another woman who later travelled to Egypt.
During questioning, she reportedly said, “I am not the only one involved in such activities in the neighbourhood.”
The same operation also detained Ali Abubakar, a 35‑year‑old fish seller from the Kano Cooperative area, and Fatima Abubakar, a 28‑year‑old woman from Niger State.
They were reportedly found inside a room and allegedly preparing to engage in immoral conduct at the time of their arrest.
The suspects claimed it was their first time and pleaded for forgiveness.
Later, the suspects were arraigned before Judge Malam Sani Tanimu Hausawa at the Hisbah premises for further proceedings.
The Kano State Hisbah Board reiterated its commitment to curbing immoral activities throughout the state and warned that similar operations would continue in other parts of Kano.
