Kano State, Nigeria—Hon. Abdullahi Mu’azu Gwarzo, who currently represents the Gwazo/Kabo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is again campaigning for re‑election under the All Progressives Congress (APC). His candidacy has become a focal point of controversy.
In 2021, before Gwarzo was elected, a petition was lodged with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The complaint alleged conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and forgery against him and two other individuals.
The 2021 EFCC petition is registered as EFCC/ABJ/PFS/HQ/TB/30/2021. With the next election cycle approaching, constituents and stakeholders—who remain aware of the ongoing investigation—have joined forces to demand accountability.
On Monday, 11 May 2026, a reminder of the petition was submitted to the EFCC, requesting an update on the status of the investigation into Gwarzo. A separate petition was also sent to the APC screening committee, urging the party to disqualify him from the upcoming primaries due to the unresolved allegations.
As the APC prepares for its primaries, attention remains focused on the EFCC’s findings and the party’s decision regarding Hon. Abdullahi Mu’azu Gwarzo.
