The Jigawa State House of Assembly approved Governor Umar Namadi’s request to tap an N84 billion federal‑government‑backed facility intended to fund critical infrastructure projects throughout the state.

Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, announced the decision after reading the governor’s letter during the plenary session.

He explained that the package forms part of a federal arrangement that will disburse N252 billion each month to the 36 states, allocating N7 billion per state every month.

According to the speaker, the total allocation for each state over a 12‑month period equals N84 billion earmarked for infrastructure and development projects.

Dangyatin added that the Assembly approved the governor’s request to begin the process of accessing the facility.

He noted that all participating states will receive the funds in bulk through commercial banks of their choice, with the federal government handling monthly repayments.

The facility is expected to accelerate key development projects in Jigawa State, especially in road construction, health care delivery, water supply, education, agriculture and rural electrification.

The fund is also projected to reinforce the state government’s efforts to improve public services and raise residents’ living standards through sustainable infrastructure development.
