Brazilian legend Romário has called for the immediate dismissal of national team manager Carlo Ancelotti, labeling Brazil’s early FIFA World Cup 2026 exit to Norway as a disgrace and an embarrassment.
He strongly criticized Ancelotti’s tactical choices and demanded that the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) terminate his contract.

The former 1994 World Cup winner did not hold back in a series of harsh criticisms directed at the Italian coach and the CBF.
He specifically criticized Ancelotti’s decisions during the Round of 16 match against Norway. He questioned the manager’s choice to sub off Bruno Guimarães and play Ederson out of position at full-back, calling out the lack of backup full-back options on the squad list.
‘He cannot remain Brazil’s head coach. If I had been in charge of the federation, I would have walked into the dressing room, told him to go to hell and torn up his contract on the spot,” Romario told Sky Sports Italia.
‘The match against Norway was a disgrace. I’d even take him to court. Then we’ll see what happens, but he cannot stay.’
Despite such criticism, Ancelotti is expected to remain the Selecao’s manager until the next World Cup in Spain, Portugal and Morocco in 2030.
