Iran Launches Missile Attack on Israel

Iran launched ballistic missiles at northern Israel on Sunday, marking the first such attack since the ceasefire that paused the U.S.–Israeli conflict with Iran two months ago.

The Israeli military confirmed the strike, noting it was the first since the ceasefire that halted hostilities between the United States and Israel in late February.

Earlier in the week, Iranian officials warned of retaliation after Israel bombed the southern outskirts of Beirut, Lebanon, as part of its campaign against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah.

At the time of reporting, there were no immediate reports of casualties from the Iranian missile attack.

In late February, the United States and Israel launched a major air campaign against Iran, resulting in thousands of deaths—primarily in Iran and Lebanon—and causing significant economic disruption worldwide.

Iran responded by firing waves of ballistic missiles and drones at Israel and the United States’ Arab allies in the Persian Gulf.

Since early April, the three countries have observed a fragile truce while President Donald Trump has been negotiating with Iranian officials to end the conflict.

Despite Trump’s repeated statements that an agreement could be imminent, the talks have yet to reach a breakthrough.
