Participants in the e‑commerce ecosystem were urged to adopt advanced technology, solid infrastructure, and efficient systems to reach the growth they anticipate.

This view was articulated during a panel titled “Powering Commerce: the systems, the infrastructures and the in‑between,” moderated by Subtext founder Osarumen Osaruyi at the Future of Commerce Summit, recently organized by Glovo.

Co‑founder of ORDA Africa, Olakunle Ogungbamila, emphasized that businesses must develop software or products that can be readily adapted to shifting market demands. He said the success of any software ultimately hinges on its users.

“People who use the software most of the time will shape how it behaves. When we started ORDA, one of the things we built was direct integration with delivery products. We designed our product to be seamless, but we have learned a lot from the user experience, and in the end, users will challenge how your software behaves for the better,” he said.

Opeyemi Oyinloye, Group Chief Operating Officer of Paga Group, explained that the organization has implemented the right systems to enable customers to make purchases smoothly.

Rotimi Thomas, CEO of Sunfi, pointed out that an easy, low‑cost transition to renewable energy has helped many businesses survive rising fossil fuel costs. He noted that numerous organizations are now adopting solar power and that companies are offering various payment plans.

Sabestine Osika, CEO of GIG Logistics, observed that integrating technology into the shipments business has been transformative, addressing major challenges the sector faces. He added that the company is already exploring partnerships with renewable energy providers to tackle the persistent power supply issues that affect most e‑commerce businesses.
