Nigerian striker Stanley Iheanacho has completed a return to Danish Superliga club FC Midtjylland from Portuguese second‑tier side CD Mafra.

Iheanacho signed a contract with FC Midtjylland that runs until 31 December 2030.

The 21‑year‑old spent two seasons with CD Mafra, scoring 17 goals in 65 appearances.

FC Midtjylland Thrilled To Re‑sign Iheanacho

Sports director Kristian Bach Bak expressed his pleasure that FC Midtjylland has secured the talented striker.

“Stanley is still a young boy who came very far from home early on. He travelled from Nigeria to Denmark and then from Denmark to Portugal,” Bak told the club’s official website.

“He has taken some steps towards senior football during the two years he has been in Mafra. At the beginning he was a small part of the team and had to fight for playing time, but last season he contributed with goals and assists, and played a big role. He has matured.”

“Stanley is a fantastic person. He is wonderfully positive and happy, and as a player he has a really high top speed. He is very dynamic in his playing style, moves a lot and is aggressive under pressure. He works hard and then he has the wonderful quality of being able to score goals.”

Iheanacho Ready For Fresh Start

Iheanacho is also looking forward to continuing his development at FC Midtjylland.

“I see it as a good opportunity for me to move to FC Midtjylland. I really enjoyed my time here when I played in the academy. It was like my springboard and the start of my career,” Iheanacho said.

“I managed to make my first‑team debut, which I am incredibly happy about, but at the time the good decision for me was to move to Mafra. I got a lot of playing time, and had a really good season most recently. Now I feel that the next step for me is to move back to FC Midtjylland and hopefully get playing time here and continue my development.”

“I already know many of the team, as several of those I played with in the U19 team and in Mafra are now playing in the first team. I look forward to being part of the club again, hopefully winning titles and playing in the Europa League.”
