Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has dissolved the board and management of the Nigeria National League (NNL) club Bayelsa United.

The governor also dismissed all players following the club’s relegation from the 2025‑26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), despite officials claiming substantial financial support from the state government.

These measures were taken to hold the club accountable for its performance.

The governor’s directive is effective immediately as the state government begins restructuring the club in preparation for its campaign in the lower division.

A new management team is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Bayelsa United, El‑Kanemi Warriors, Wikki Tourists and Remo Stars were relegated from the NPFL last season.
