Government promises to rescue the abducted head of the Ondo community.

The Ondo State Government has announced that all security and intelligence mechanisms are fully activated to secure the rescue of 60‑year‑old Adeniyi Adelana, the community head of Ode Oriya Village in Owo Local Government Area, who was abducted on Saturday by six gunmen.

During the attempted abduction, his wife was shot.

Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, the commissioner for Information and Orientation, made the statement in Akure, reassuring the victim’s family and the public.

Ajanaku said that police and other security agencies, working in partnership with the Amotekun Corps, have begun coordinated search and rescue operations across strategic locations around the incident site.

“The swift response underscores the effectiveness of the state’s sustained investment in strengthening its security architecture,” he said.

He added that the provision of modern intelligence‑gathering equipment, including surveillance drones and other technological assets, has enhanced the operational capabilities of security agencies in combating crime.

“Preliminary intelligence reports indicate that security operatives are making significant progress in tracking the perpetrators,” Ajanaku said.

“The government remains confident that ongoing operations will yield the desired outcome and lead to the safe rescue of the victim while ensuring those responsible face justice.”

He noted that Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration remains unwavering in protecting lives and property.

“Security agencies have been directed to deploy every available resource toward resolving the incident, while efforts to strengthen intelligence‑led policing and community‑based security continue,” he added.

The government urged residents to remain calm, vigilant and law‑abiding, and to support agencies with credible information.

“The government assures all citizens that it will continue to take decisive actions to safeguard communities and sustain peace across Ondo State,” Ajanaku added.
