Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to backing the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in maintaining peace and security throughout the state. He delivered this pledge during a courtesy visit to Government House in Birnin Kebbi, where he hosted Deputy Inspector‑General of Police for Administration and Finance, Suleiman Mohammed Abdul, who oversees the North‑West geopolitical zone.

‘We will continue to support the police to sustain peace in Kebbi,’ the governor said, adding that his administration would keep close collaboration with security agencies to protect lives and property.

He praised the Inspector‑General of Police for sending a high‑level delegation to evaluate the state’s security situation and pinpoint areas needing additional intervention.

Idris noted that Kebbi borders the Republic of Niger and the Republic of Benin, a circumstance he said has facilitated the infiltration of bandits and Lakurawa elements into certain border communities.

He added that criminal groups frequently cross from neighboring territories into the state to carry out attacks before withdrawing to their bases.

He expressed confidence that the recommendations from the DIG’s assessment visit would further strengthen security measures and improve residents’ safety.

Earlier, Abdul said he had visited Kebbi at the Inspector‑General of Police’s directive to convey the force’s appreciation to the governor for his support.

The DIG praised Idris for supplying operational vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers, describing the gesture as a major boost to police operations and security management in the state.

He said the visit also allowed him to sympathise with the government and people of Kebbi over the loss of lives caused by bandit attacks, including fallen security personnel.

Abdul disclosed that he had visited the Federal Government Girls’ College in Gwandu under the Safe School Project and held consultations with key stakeholders in the state.

He assured that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to strengthen intelligence‑led policing, deploy modern technology, and improve personnel welfare to enhance security across the country.
