Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officers who are studying abroad were permitted to take part in the Corps’ 2026 promotion exercise from a distance, a move the agency said marked a significant step toward digitising personnel management and removing obstacles to career progression.

To increase transparency and public confidence, the Corps installed real‑time monitoring cameras and invited independent observers from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Federal Character Commission to oversee the 2026 promotion exercise.

Deputy Corps Commander and Public Education Officer Osondu Ohaeri announced that the agency had used digital technology to conduct one of the largest promotion exercises in its history, advancing more than 10,000 personnel while aiming to eliminate bottlenecks and promote merit‑based assessment.

The exercise covered 3,597 intermediate rank officers and 6,408 junior officers nationwide and was led by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed.

According to the statement, the technology‑driven system removed traditional bottlenecks, improved operational efficiency, and ensured that all eligible personnel had equal opportunities to compete strictly on merit, competence and performance.

To reinforce the process’s integrity, the exercise, which began across the Corps’ 12 Zonal Commands on 14 June 2026, was monitored with surveillance cameras and overseen by representatives of the Corps Marshal.

One of the exercise’s key highlights was the successful inclusion of officers pursuing academic and professional programmes outside Nigeria.

Using innovative ICT solutions, personnel on study leave abroad could participate remotely without disrupting their education, a development the Corps said demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that no eligible officer was disadvantaged by geographic location or self‑development commitments.

The FRSC said the exercise reflected Mohammed’s vision of building a highly motivated, professional and future‑ready workforce in which diligence, innovation, commitment and excellence are recognised and rewarded.

Marshal Mohammed has continued to prioritise career progression, and under his leadership the Corps has launched extensive reforms to improve personnel welfare, strengthen institutional capacity and leverage technology to enhance service delivery.

The successful completion of the 2026 promotion exercise, the statement added, further evidences the Marshal’s determination to institutionalise global best practices and transform the FRSC into a modern, digitally‑driven organisation that prioritises the growth and aspirations of its workforce.

The Corps emphasised that dedication remains the pathway to career advancement, supporting its broader goal of building a motivated workforce capable of delivering safer roads and improved public service to Nigerians.
