The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) and the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) have announced a partnership aimed at safeguarding consumers, elevating service quality, and fostering sustainable tourism across Nigeria.
The agreement was highlighted when NTDA Director General Dr. Ola Awakan visited FCCPC Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mr. Tunji Bello at the commission’s Abuja headquarters, as stated by the consumer protection agency on Wednesday.
Bello welcomed the delegation and underscored tourism’s importance for Nigeria’s economic diversification, urging the development of a robust tourism culture to unlock the sector’s full potential.
He added that although tourism responsibilities are shared between federal and state governments, the NTDA must provide strategic direction and set standards to build confidence among both domestic and international visitors.
“The experience tourists receive upon arrival and throughout their stay determines whether they will return and whether they will recommend Nigeria to others. Every stakeholder must therefore play a role in creating a welcoming and efficient tourism ecosystem,” Bello said.
