An applicant to the University of Lagos (UNILAG) emerged as the highest scorer in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

JAMB announced at its 2026 Policy Meeting on Admissions to Tertiary Institutions in Abuja on Monday that the top performer for the 2026 UTME was Owoeye Jesudunsin, an Ekiti native who sat for the exam in Ogun State. She achieved the leading score of 372 out of 400.

Jesudunsin indicated a desire to study medicine and surgery at UNILAG, as reported by JAMB registrar Ishaq Oloyede.

Her result is three points below the 2025 record of 375, which was set by Chinedu Okeke, an Anambra-born candidate.

Ikenna Enwere secured second place with 370 points. The candidate from Imo State selected Nile University in Abuja as his first choice and intends to pursue computer science.

He was closely trailed by Ayomide Bamisile of Ondo State, who earned 369 points. Bamisile applied to study software engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Ondo State.
