A total of 28,000 beneficiaries of the Ebonyi State Health Insurance Agency (EBSHIA) have supported Governor Francis Nwifuru’s bid for a second term.
They first assembled at the Christian Ecumenical Centre and then proceeded to the state township stadium, where they gave testimony and reiterated their support for Nwifuru’s second term.
EBSHIA Executive Secretary Dr. Divine Igwe stated that Governor Nwifuru’s administration has transformed healthcare access, making quality medical services available to all rather than only the privileged.
He credited this progress to ongoing government investment in health and growing public confidence in the state’s delivery system.
The executive secretary added, “His Excellency has unequivocally shown that healthcare is a fundamental right for all citizens, not a privilege for the wealthy.”
He noted that the health insurance scheme stands as a key pillar of the state’s healthcare system, delivering financial protection and better access to medical services for vulnerable households.
Igwe highlighted that beneficiaries have seen better health outcomes, such as safe deliveries, surgical procedures, and prompt treatment for both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
He also disclosed that from 2023 to 2026, the agency logged 394,387 visits and 478,607 services used at accredited health facilities throughout the state.
Governor Nwifuru, represented by APC state chairman Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, praised the agency for effectively implementing government health policies.
He affirmed that the administration remains dedicated to enhancing healthcare delivery, education, infrastructure, and human‑capital development to better citizens’ welfare.
