Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists set primary, secondary schools in Chibok ablaze

By Ndahi Marama, Maiduguri

Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters entered Kautikari village in the Chibok local government area of Borno State on Saturday, setting fire to a primary school and a day secondary school.

The village has experienced several deadly Boko Haram attacks in recent months.

Sources told our correspondent that the incident, which began around 7 pm on Saturday, forced residents to flee into the bush for safety.

Security personnel from Kautikari who are based in Maiduguri confirmed the attack, but said casualty figures were still unknown.

“Yes, I can confirm to you that our village (Kautikari) in the Chibok local government area is under Boko Haram attack. Our people are scampering for safety, even as two schools (primary and day secondary school) are under fire,” he said.

Attempts to obtain confirmation from the police public relations officer, ASP Keneth Daso, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
