Delta State Police Command has rescued a kidnapping victim, arrested suspected armed robbers, and seized a firearm and hard drugs.

The Command’s Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad (SAKU) successfully rescued a male victim unharmed and without the payment of ransom through a coordinated, intelligence‑led operation.

The operation was launched after the Command received information on 11 June 2026 about the kidnapping of a male victim by armed men in Okpanam on 10 June 2026.

Responding quickly, operatives deployed intelligence assets and began a strategic mission to locate the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.

Edafe Bright, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed that the victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and reunited with his family. Efforts are continuing to identify and arrest the fleeing suspects while the investigation proceeds.

“As pressure mounted on the kidnappers through sustained intelligence gathering and operational deployment, the suspects abandoned the victim and fled from their hideout,” Bright said.

In a separate incident, officers from the Distress 01 Patrol Team, attached to the Department of Operations, intercepted a tricycle carrying three occupants during a routine motorised patrol on 12 June 2026 at about 12:30 hrs in Asaba.

During a search, a locally fabricated Beretta pistol was recovered.

The suspects, identified as Ewendeze De‑Grace (19), Eruweghene Amede (20), and Chukwuemeka Arinze (21), were immediately arrested.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects belong to the Aro Bagger Confraternity. The suspects and the recovered firearm remain in custody while the investigation continues.

Continuing efforts to curb drug‑related crimes, officers from the Kwale Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected drug distribution point in Kwale on 10 June 2026.

When the operatives arrived, two male suspects fled the premises, while a female suspect, Ananyi Vivian, aged 45, was arrested.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the premises were used for illicit drug activities. During interrogation, the suspect admitted awareness of the illegal operations at the location.

Bright added that the investigation is ongoing and that concerted efforts are being made to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring all persons connected with the illicit drug operation to justice.
