The Social Democratic Party presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo has accused Nigerian political leaders of employing bandits to secure electoral victories.

Adebayo made the claim during an interview on “Politics Hub,” a program broadcast by Vanguard.

He discussed the rising levels of banditry and terrorism across the country.

“If I were President now, there would be no bandits. If President Bola Tinubu does not want bandits in Nigeria by Christmas this year, the bandits will disappear,” Adebayo said.

“So, if the government wants to eliminate bandits, it can do so effortlessly. But government officials have complicated the matter,” he added.

“They need bandit leaders to help them win elections and they need to profit from banditry. They have to choose one or the other,” Adebayo continued.

“But if the President says, ‘I don’t want to see any bandits again,’ you won’t see bandits,” he concluded.
