Mrs. Alamu, the school principal who was abducted, has posted a new distress video in which she calls on the government, the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and President Bola Tinubu to intervene urgently.

Speaking from captivity, she said that teachers and students have been subjected to harsh weather conditions for weeks while being held by their abductors.

In the video, which has circulated online, Mrs. Alamu also reported that the abductors have grown increasingly impatient and threatened to harm one of the captives after an earlier rescue attempt.

She urged authorities and Nigerians to help secure their release before the situation deteriorates further.

“Please help us. I am calling on NUT to help us to talk to them; you don’t need force. All they have to do is negotiate with them and release us. We are in the cold, we are under the sun. Please we are begging you,” she said.

On May 15, 2026, several pupils and teachers were abducted from the Ahoro‑Esinele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area in Oyo State.

A separate abduction occurred around the same time in a community in Askira‑Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, bringing the total number of abducted pupils to more than 40.

Since then, one of the abductees—a teacher in Oyo State named Michael Oyedokun—was reportedly killed by the bandits.
