Germany tennis star Alexander Zverev has said he is fully ready to face his close friend and frequent practice partner Flavio Cobolli in today’s final of the 2026 French Open.
The No. 2 seed reached his fourth career Grand Slam final after defeating Jakub Menšík in a four‑set semi‑final match.
Cobolli, meanwhile, reached his first Grand Slam final after a walkover in the semi‑final when Matteo Arnaldi withdrew because of a viral illness.

Roland‑Garros has long been a promising venue for Zverev, but it has also been a place where his hopes have frayed, from the severe ankle injury that cut short his 2022 semi‑final against Nadal to his loss to Alcaraz in the 2024 final.
Despite having a chance at his first Grand Slam title, Zverev spoke only praise for his opponent, calling the young Italian a great player and a great person.
“The only thing I can control is that I play good tennis. I’ll try to show my level. I’ll try to do the right things. That’s the only thing that matters to me. I look forward to playing him in the final. It’s his first final so I’m happy for him that he reached it,” added Zverev, who holds a 3‑1 advantage in their head‑to‑head record.

“He’s a great player and a great guy. I like him. I like his dad a lot. Two very good people, just generally. We got closer at the Laver Cup in 2024 in Berlin… he’s just a nice person. He has a good heart. He’s extremely funny if you get to know him.”
