Zamfara government pledges stronger action against bandits after three policemen are killed.

The Zamfara State Government has reaffirmed its resolve to strengthen actions against banditry and other criminal activities following the loss of three police officers in a recent operation.

The officers were reportedly killed by an improvised explosive device, IED, allegedly planted by bandits along the Anka–Bagega road in Anka Local Government Area.

During the funeral prayers held in Gusau, Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Nakwada described the incident as tragic and offered condolences to the families of the victims and to the Nigeria Police Force.

Representing the state government at the ceremony, Nakwada said the deaths would reinforce rather than weaken authorities’ determination to address insecurity.

“This tragic incident will not make us relent; it only emboldens us. We will intensify our efforts, and victory is assured, In‑Sha‑Allah,” he said.

He extended the Zamfara State Government’s condolences to the Inspector‑General of Police, the Zamfara State Police Command, the bereaved families and the broader police community.

The funeral prayers were conducted at the Police Command Headquarters in Gusau and were led by Inspector‑General of Police Kayode Egbetokun in accordance with Islamic rites.

Nakwada also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the families of the fallen officers and pledged continued collaboration with security agencies to combat banditry and other forms of criminality across the state.

He prayed for the repose of the officers’ souls and for strength for their families to endure the loss.
