The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has officially nominated Wafarninyi Theman Dalatu, a former secretary of the Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as its candidate for governor of Adamawa State.
The nomination was confirmed in Yola on Friday after a physical, person‑to‑person count of accredited party members from the 21 local government areas. The members assembled at the Bridgewood Hotel in Jimeta to recognize Dalatu as the party’s sole gubernatorial aspirant.
YPP National Secretary Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, who led other national officers in supervising the exercise, announced Dalatu’s candidacy and tasked him with strengthening the party and ensuring the success of its candidates in the 2027 elections.
In his acceptance speech, Dalatu pledged to reverse Adamawa State’s poverty index and promote prosperity for all through broad economic transformation.
Dalatu is a trained pharmacist who served as Adamawa State secretary of the APC from 2019 to 2023 and participated in the APC’s 2023 governorship primary. He also represented Hong State Constituency in the State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2015.
