The member of parliament for the Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal constituency in Abia State, Alozie Munachim, was booed by a crowd of youths in Obingwa on Thursday during a political gathering.
While holding a microphone to address the large audience, the lawmaker was met with loud boos from the youths, who accused him of delivering a low level of performance in his representation.
The youths interrupted his speech repeatedly, chanting “Dede lotuo, igaghi aga ozo, nke igara aga, adighi ihe anyi huru” – which translates to “Senior, please step down, you won’t go again, we are not feeling any good impact of the one you are currently representing.”
Despite Alozie’s attempts to explain his achievements to the constituents, the crowd remained unconvinced.
Supporters of the federal lawmaker described the youths’ conduct as violent and embarrassing.
A member of Munachim Alozie’s support group, Kenneth Nzube, said:
“The behavior of the youths was provocative and could have sparked off violence, but I am happy that Honourable Alozie maintained his usual peaceful character.”
