‎New information about the marital status of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo has surfaced online, surprising fans and industry peers.

‎Earlier, GistReel reported that the actor died at age 40 after battling cancer, prompting an outpouring of tributes.

Grace Mabel, the wife of celebrity fashion designer Yomi Casual, posted on Instagram to mourn Ekubo’s death.

‎She noted that the actor was survived by his wife, parents, siblings and colleagues.

‎“I wish we didn’t listened to you and broke down the walls of privacy, you had built. Burn it, no matter how many time you put it up. You guys are not okay at all. You parents, wife,siblings, your gang, your colleagues, fans”, she wrote.

Stanley Ontop Breaks Silence

In a recent update, Stanley Ontop has spoken publicly about Alex Ekubo’s death, offering further details on the actor’s illness.

In an Instagram post, the veteran Nollywood producer revealed that the actor received a stage‑4 cancer diagnosis in 2024.

Following treatment and a transplant, Ekubo returned to work, but complications later worsened his condition, leading to his death.

According to the producer, the actor died on Monday, 12 May 2026, at a Lagos hospital, after which his body was transferred to a morgue.
