Yola Court Orders Return of Teens Charged with Mosque Generator Theft

The Chief Magistrate Court II in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State, has ordered that two boys be remanded for allegedly stealing a mosque’s generator.

The court also remanded a scavenger, Auwalu Bashir, into prison custody for allegedly receiving stolen property.

The minors, who are to be held in a juvenile remand home, are 14‑year‑old Saidu Alhassan and 13‑year‑old Mamman, both from the PZ Roundabout area of Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area.

The boys and the older defendant were arraigned by police prosecutor Inspector Emmanuel Paul for alleged “criminal conspiracy, theft and receiving of stolen property.”

Inspector Paul told the court that Murtala Isa, a resident of Jambutu Primary School in Yola North LGA, reported the theft at Jambutu Police Station on 13 June 2026. Subsequent investigations led to the defendants.

During the arraignment, Inspector Paul alleged that the minors had taken the Perso Power Generator, valued at ₦600,000, at different times and sold it to the scavenger for ₦50,000 each.
