Nigerian troops operating under Operation HADIN KAI arrested a suspected informant of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a stop‑and‑search mission in Gujba Local Government Area, Yobe State.

The arrest was announced on X on Tuesday by Zagazola Makama, a counter‑insurgency and security expert who works in the Lake Chad region.

According to Makama, who cited security sources, the suspect was taken into custody on Monday along the Buni Gari–Buni Yadi road axis.

Troops intercepted the individual while conducting a routine security patrol. He was found to have injuries that security officials believe were the result of prior contact with security forces.

Preliminary questioning revealed that the suspect had moved from Ganjarma village to a settlement along the Bara road axis, where he had reportedly stayed for about ten days before his arrest.

"A preliminary assessment suggests the suspect may have links with ISWAP/JAS elements operating in the general area, and investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of his involvement," a security source said.

The suspect remains in military custody and is undergoing further interrogation.
