Former Manchester City defender Kyle Walker has named Argentina captain Lionel Messi as the tournament’s best forward during the current FIFA World Cup.
Walker said Messi outshines players such as England’s Harry Kane, France’s Kylian Mbappé and Norway’s Erling Haaland.
In a talkSPORTS interview, Walker remarked that many people underestimate Messi, adding that the Inter Miami captain’s skill is frightening.
When asked to identify the best forward in the ongoing World Cup, Walker replied, “Messi by far. What he does with a football is scary; it shouldn’t really happen. I think people seem to write him off all the time, or he’s getting a little bit too old.”
“Is this probably going to be the last World Cup? But to do what he’s done and if they retain the World Cup, what a dream that will be for him to go with,” Walker added.
