Former Manchester United midfielder Eric Djemba‑Djemba has said that Cristiano Ronaldo could still be playing at the 2030 World Cup.

The Cameroonian highlighted the Portuguese captain’s relentless drive to improve.

“It would be the ideal conclusion,” Djemba‑Djemba told BetVictor via GOAL, adding that he supports Ronaldo’s ambition to keep playing until the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

He added that if Ronaldo chooses not to retire before 2030, Portugal should certainly select him for the squad.

“He is driven by a desire to enhance his skills and to compete. I have never encountered a mentality quite like his. If he is still active when the 2030 World Cup takes place in Portugal, I firmly believe he should be included in the team,” the former teammate said.

Djemba‑Djemba further noted that a 2030 World Cup appearance would be the perfect finale to Ronaldo’s career, especially if he could play alongside his son before retiring from professional football.

“It would be the perfect finale to his career and a remarkable moment for Portuguese football. And just think if Cristiano Jr. is also present. That would be extraordinary,” he added.

Ronaldo is the all‑time leading scorer in international men’s football, with 143 goals to his name.
