Spain manager Luis de la Fuente has disclosed that he is completely convinced his squad will beat France in their FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final clash.
Recall that Spain advanced on a winning goal by substitute Mikel Merino in the 88th minute of the quarterfinals at SoFi Stadium. La Roja conceded its only goal of the entire World Cup late in the first half against Belgium, while France has piled up 16 goals in its six World Cup matches.

Speaking highly of their opponents, he stated that Spain’s tactical approach and current form make them capable of toppling any team.
De la Fuente’s confidence stems from a historic run of form, as Spain heads into the blockbuster clash carrying an unbeaten streak of over 30 matches across all competitions.
While acknowledging France’s pedigree as a formidable opponent, the Spanish boss believes La Roja’s momentum and tactical flexibility will give them the edge in what he described as a “final before the final”.
“Let me be clear: We are not finished,” de la Fuente said.

“We are going to work to try to overcome France, but they will be just as worried, as we’ve shown we’re the only team in the world capable of beating them in two consecutive matches.”
France has made the past two World Cup finals, winning it all in 2018. Spain has made only one World Cup final in its history, but the current team is unbeaten in 37 consecutive competitive matches since March 2023, a stretch that also includes a loss on penalties to Portugal in the Nations League final last year.
