World Cup 2026: South Africa will bounce back from Mexico defeat – Okon

South Africa defender Ime Okon has commented on Bafana Bafana’s 2‑0 loss to Mexico, DAILY POST reports.

The match, played at the Mexico City Stadium on Thursday night, was the opening fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Hugo Broos’s side fell to the co‑hosts, with Julian Quiñones and Raúl Jiménez scoring for Mexico.

Okon said the team must move past the defeat and concentrate on the next match.

“It was a tough game, we had them at times. We just look forward, we’re positive. We know it’s a loss but we’re looking to the next game now,” Okon told SportyTV after the match.

South Africa’s next opponent will be the Czech Republic at Atlanta Stadium.
