Côte d’Ivoire head coach Emerse Fae expressed disappointment after the team’s loss to Germany, according to Completesports.com.
The two‑time African champions opened the scoring through Franck Kessie but failed to convert several subsequent chances.
Germany rallied in the second half, scoring twice via substitute Deniz Undav to secure a spot in the Round of 32.
Fae Criticises Côte d’Ivoire’s Wastefulness
Fae said his side could have shown more composure and decisiveness in their attempts to score a second goal.
“It’s more frustration that we’re feeling after this defeat, because we were able to open the score against this strong German side,” Fae told reporters.

“A difference in experience that meant in the chances that we did have at the end of the game, where we needed to find the back of the net, we were hesitant.”
Looking Ahead to Curaçao
Despite the setback, Fae was eager to move forward and praised his team’s overall performance.
“We’re going to use this game as a lesson to try and fine‑tune the mistakes, our shortcomings that we still have, and that will help us go as far as possible,” he said.
“Our destiny is still in our hands, or our feet.”
The Elephants will face Curaçao in their final group match on Thursday.
