A Federal High Court in Abuja sentenced Halima Haliru Umar to 20 years in prison after she was found guilty of unlawfully possessing 302 rounds of AK‑47 live ammunition and of attempting to support acts of terrorism.
During her arraignment on March 11, Umar pleaded guilty to two of the four counts that the Department of State Services (DSS) had charged against her, following her arrest in Plateau State.
After reviewing the facts of counts three and four, to which she had pleaded guilty, Justice Hauwa Yilwa adjourned the case to deliver a judgment on those admissions.
