A three‑storey building under construction collapsed on Saturday in Durumi, Area 3, near Gudu Market in Abuja.
The collapse resulted in the deaths of five people, while one individual was rescued alive from the rubble.
According to the Daily Post, the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) Mandate Secretary for Health, Dolapo Fasawe, personally attended to the sole survivor before he was transported to a hospital.
In response, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike ordered that all rescued victims receive free medical treatment.
A brief statement from Wike’s spokesman, Lere Olayinka, read: “Five were brought out dead, eleven are recovering, and Wike has directed free medical treatment for the victims.”
Olayinka added, “One was rescued alive after being buried in the rubble for more than nine hours.”
