The Nyesom Wike‑aligned faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba state has reiterated that it is the legitimate leadership of the party in the state.
The state chairman Ibrahim Abba Sale made the statement over the weekend while handing certificates of return to the faction’s 24 candidates for the Taraba State House of Assembly, ahead of the upcoming elections.
Sale emphasized that the faction is the authentic PDP leadership in Taraba, noting that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) oversaw the party’s primary elections that selected its candidates.
He urged the candidates to stay dedicated to pursuing their mandates through the democratic process, pointing out that the faction has fielded candidates for all 24 State House of Assembly seats, six House of Representatives constituencies, and the governorship race, with Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as its gubernatorial candidate.
The chairman also criticized Governor Agbu Kefas’s administration, accusing it of failing to deliver the expected democratic benefits to the people.
He called on voters throughout the state to back the PDP in the upcoming elections, a move that comes amid the ongoing leadership dispute within the party in Taraba.
The candidates presented belong to the Wike‑aligned faction, which continues to assert control over the party’s structure in the state despite the ongoing internal crisis.
