Wike Faces Accusation of Marginalizing Ijaw in Rivers by Ikwerre Leader Ossai

A Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Ovie Success, has voiced disappointment over the abrupt withdrawal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara from the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.

He lamented that the only “Ijaw man who just became Governor is not returning.”

According to DAILY POST, all aspirants contesting the APC governorship ticket in Rivers State, including Fubara, have stepped aside in favor of Kingsley Chinda, a relative of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

Chinda, who currently represents the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is described by Ossai as an Ikwerre man.

He questioned why the Ijaw community is not given the opportunity to hold power for at least eight years.

The Delta governor’s aide wrote: “Chinda is Ikwerre, just like Nyesom Wike (8 years as governor), Rotimi Amaechi (8 years as Governor), and Celestine Omehia (5 months as Governor).”

“Is Ikwerre the only tribe in Rivers? Fubara as an Ijaw man who just became Governor is not returning again.”

“And now, Wike is fronting another Ikwerre man, O.K. Chinda. Why is Rivers State not operating zoning like other states?”
