The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dickson, stated that all donations to the party must be deposited into the party’s designated bank account.

During a stakeholder meeting, Dickson emphasized that no party official, including himself, is authorized to spend party funds.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to audit the party’s account in accordance with the law, noting that the party does not want individuals to use its money for personal purchases such as private houses or new cars.

“We direct that every donation should go into the party’s designated account so that it can be audited and handled by INEC, which has the authority to conduct audits when necessary,” Dickson said.

He added, “We will also inform the public so that donors know the money will not be spent by the chairman, national leader, or secretary.”

Reflecting on past experiences, Dickson remarked, “I was in parties where we raised money, and before you know it, there was no money left. We don’t want the NDC to follow that path. So people should bear with us. These are the systems we are creating.”
