"We grew apart," Kate Henshaw says about her relationship with Genevieve Nnaji.

Actress Kate Henshaw has once again discussed the evolution of her friendship with fellow Nollywood star Genevieve Nnaji, explaining that the bond they once shared has gradually weakened over time.

At 54, Henshaw admitted that she cannot pinpoint the exact cause of the growing distance between them, despite their earlier close connection.

“We grew apart. We were close and we used to go to events together and then there was that gap…I don’t know what happened, I don’t know what came over her but hey, I moved on,” she told the latest episode of the Tea With Tay podcast.

Reflecting on the situation, Henshaw noted that relationships naturally change as people move through different phases of life, entering and leaving each other’s lives for various reasons.

“I say this with hindsight: People are in your life for different reasons and seasons,” she said. “Some are roots, some are branches, some are leaves. That’s how it is through life. Roots would always be roots.”

This is not the first time Henshaw has spoken publicly about her friendship with Nnaji. In 2023, she acknowledged that while they had experienced disagreements, they never escalated into serious conflict.

“Genevieve, we have had our issues but not big issues you know,” Henshaw said. “I have loved her. You know sometimes she pulls away. She pulls away from everybody and you’re like, ‘Am I smelling?’”
