The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the report detailing the Supreme Court‑ordered delineation of wards and units within Warri Federal Constituency, following an emergency meeting held on Wednesday in Asaba.

INEC also established additional constituencies for the Ijaws of Warri North and the Itsekiris of Warri North, as well as for the Ijaws of Warri South‑West and the Itsekiris of Warri South‑West.

As a result, the Urhobos and Ijaws now belong to State Constituency I, Warri South, while the Itsekiris are grouped into a single State Constituency.

During the emergency meeting, Resident National Electoral Commissioner INEC Etekamba Unoren and a Supervising National Electoral Commissioner presented the results. The Itsekiris, Urhobos, and Ijaws were present at the meeting.

INEC also created federal constituencies for Warri North and Warri South‑West.

A prominent Gbaramatu indigene, who requested anonymity, noted that the creation of the new federal constituencies in Warri North and Warri South‑West will require a constitutional amendment.

“But it has been created too. It will go to the National Assembly for constitutional amendment,” he said.
