The Dutse Emirate Council in Jigawa State has suspended Usaini Muhammad, the Village Head of Tsagewa in Miga District, over accusations that he confiscated property belonging to orphans.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by the council’s secretary, Alhaji Amadu Malami.
According to the statement, the order takes effect immediately after several allegations were made against the traditional ruler, including the alleged seizure of orphans’ belongings and the sale of community farmlands.
The emirate council also directed the suspended village head to return all money in his possession within four weeks.
The statement added that village heads appointed by the emirate are expected to uphold trust, protect the interests of the people, and abide by the oath of office administered by the traditional institution.
