Village Head of Plateau Hospitalised After Road Attack in Bokkos

The Village Head of Gwande community in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State was taken to hospital after an attack on the Daffo–Hotom–Sha road.

The incident was reported on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Wednesday. According to the post, the attack occurred on Tuesday evening while the traditional ruler, Mr. Samuel Usman Alakate, 60, was traveling along the road.

Alakate was assaulted by unknown assailants and sustained injuries.

Security sources said that troops from Operation Enduring Peace, Sector 5, Bokkos, responded promptly after a distress call and arrived at the scene.

"The injured village head was found by the troops and immediately evacuated to the Cottage Hospital in Bokkos, where he is currently receiving treatment," Makama wrote.

Following the attack, security forces have increased patrols and other operations in the area to prevent further incidents and reassure residents.

Authorities also said that efforts are underway to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
