Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has expressed confidence that the current Gunners squad will dominate the Premier League for years to come.
After finishing second in each of the last three seasons, Arsenal were eventually crowned Premier League champions, beating Manchester City to the title.
It was the club’s first top‑flight triumph since 2004, when they were guided by legendary French manager Arsène Wenger.
Vieira, who was part of Wenger’s side that won the league title three times, said he hopes the present team can achieve what he and his teammates were unable to during their era.
“I hope the current Arsenal team can do that because we couldn’t do that in our time,” Vieira told the X handle of Arsenal News Channel.
“If you look at the current squad they are really quite young but do have experience and talent. There’s no reason why they can’t dominate the Premier League for the upcoming years. Arsenal’s squad, with the stability they have, can dominate the Premier League in the years coming.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal could complete a double as they face holders Paris Saint‑Germain in the UEFA Champions League final next Saturday in Budapest, Hungary.
The last time the Gunners reached the Champions League final was in 2006, when they lost 2‑1 to a Ronaldinho‑inspired Barcelona side.
Now they have the chance to win a first‑ever Champions League title and become the second London club – after Chelsea – to lift the trophy.
