Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has been warned that his market value could begin to fall if he remains with Galatasaray beyond this summer, despite another remarkable season in Turkish football, Afrik-Foot reports.

The 27‑year‑old remains the most valuable player in Türkiye after the latest market value update from Transfermarkt placed him at €75 million. No player in the Turkish Süper Lig comes close to that figure.

Osimhen’s move to Istanbul completely changed the financial landscape of Turkish football. After an initial loan spell, Galatasaray paid a record €75 million to sign him permanently from Napoli, smashing the previous Turkish transfer record of €19.5 million set when Youssef En‑Nesyri joined Fenerbahçe.

The Nigerian forward also became the highest‑paid footballer in Turkish football history. Reports in Türkiye estimate his yearly earnings, including salary, loyalty bonuses and image‑right agreements, at between €20 million and €21 million.

Osimhen has fully justified the investment on the pitch. Since arriving in Istanbul, he has scored 59 goals in 74 appearances across all competitions and helped Galatasaray win back‑to‑back Süper Lig titles, including the club’s historic 26th league crown this season.

His performances in European competitions and domestic football have also increased the global attention on the Turkish league, with scouts from elite European clubs regularly attending Galatasaray matches.

Transfermarkt market value administrator for Türkiye, Sinan Yener, explained why Osimhen’s valuation has remained unchanged despite the latest review of 478 Süper Lig players.

“Top strikers like Victor Osimhen are always in very high demand in the transfer market, and he is clearly one of the elite forwards in world football right now,” Yener said. “Especially with clubs like Barcelona and Arsenal being linked to him, we decided to keep his market value at €75 million in this update.”

Arsenal and Europe’s elite continue to monitor Victor Osimhen

However, Yener also warned that remaining in the Turkish league for much longer could eventually damage Victor Osimhen’s market value, mainly because the Süper Lig does not carry the same global weight as Europe’s top five leagues.

“The big question is how much longer Osimhen will be able to remain at his current market value?” Yener said. “We will see what kind of path he takes during the summer transfer window and then reassess his situation in the next update.”

“If he stays in the Süper Lig beyond this summer, his market value will most likely begin to decrease because €75 million is still an exceptionally high valuation for the Turkish league.”

“One of the biggest obstacles to a move back to Europe is believed to be his salary expectations, reportedly around €20 million per year. Despite that, there are still several clubs capable of paying a transfer fee of €75 million or more for a player of his level.”

Several of Europe’s biggest clubs continue to monitor the Super Eagles striker ahead of the transfer window. Arsenal are strongly linked as they search for a clinical number nine capable of leading their Premier League title challenge.

Chelsea remain aggressive admirers, while Manchester United have reportedly maintained communication with Osimhen’s representatives. Paris Saint‑Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also closely watching developments.

Despite the transfer speculation, Osimhen has continued to publicly express his happiness in Istanbul. Following Galatasaray’s latest league triumph, he described this stage of his career as the “finest spell” of his professional life and praised the club’s management, supporters and coaching staff.

Still, behind the scenes, his representatives are believed to be holding exploratory talks with several elite European clubs ahead of the summer market.

Osimhen remains under long‑term contract at Galatasaray until June 2029, meaning the Turkish champions are under no pressure to sell. Reports in Türkiye suggest it could take an offer between €100 million and €150 million before Galatasaray even consider opening negotiations.
