VDM: Man who allegedly originated fake Tinubu’s voice in viral video arrested – Presidency

The presidency confirmed on Thursday that Ifechukwu Dennis has been arrested for allegedly creating the AI‑generated audio of President Bola Tinubu.

The audio was attached to a fabricated video featuring social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, better known as Verydarkman VDM, and sparked widespread backlash online.

President Tinubu’s media aide, Bayo Onanuga, shared the AI video and warned that legal action would be taken against VDM.

In a Facebook post on Thursday night, Bayo announced that the originator of the audio had been taken into custody in Benin City.

He wrote, “The IGP crack team has arrested Ifechukwu Dennis who originated the fake voice that he passed on to his gullible targets as President Tinubu’s voice. Dennis was arrested in Benin. The police will issue an official statement.”
