The Federal University Wukari has announced an immediate and comprehensive ban on all student sign‑out activities, citing safety and security concerns related to the celebrations.
The directive was issued in a circular from the Academic Affairs Division and signed by Academic Secretary Mr. Micah Sylvanus O., acting on behalf of the registrar, on Thursday.
According to the circular, the decision was approved by the university’s Senate during its 76th regular meeting on 26 May 2026.
The ban covers all activities traditionally associated with sign‑out ceremonies, including signing on T‑shirts, dancing, and processions both inside and outside classrooms, as well as student movements and gatherings across the campus and its surrounding areas.
The university specifically prohibited parties and celebrations around its gates and along the Katsina‑Ala–Jalingo highway, noting that such events often cause congestion and pose risks to students and the public.
The circular further warned that no student, group of students, or association may organize, sponsor, or participate in convoys, public processions, or the spraying of money as part of graduation or passing‑out celebrations.
University security personnel were instructed to enforce the new policy strictly and to report any violations promptly.
While reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and safety of students, the university management stressed the need for strict adherence to institutional rules and regulations to avoid disciplinary consequences.
Students have been urged to comply fully with the directive, which takes immediate effect.
