US Launches Missile Strike on Iran in Response to Escalation

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out self‑defense strikes in southern Iran on Monday.

CENTCOM spokesperson Capt. Tim Hawkins made the statement on Monday, saying: “US forces conducted self‑defense strikes in southern Iran today to protect our troops from threats posed by Iranian forces.”

Hawkins added that the targets were missile launch sites and Iranian boats that were attempting to lay mines.

He also said that CENTCOM would continue to defend its forces while exercising restraint during the ongoing ceasefire.

The spokesperson emphasized that the strikes took place near Bandar Abbas, the location of Iran’s main naval base.
