US introduces “Patriot Passport” featuring Trump’s image

Donald Trump has introduced a redesigned commemorative United States passport that bears his portrait as the country prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of its independence.

The special edition, called the “Patriot Passport” by the White House, features a portrait of Trump inside the document along with excerpts from the Declaration of Independence.

Trump announced the launch on his Truth Social platform, writing: “The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’”

The passport’s portrait shows the president seated behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office with clenched fists, and his signature appears beneath the image with the inscription “United States of America.”

Another page displays artwork of the 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence, accompanied by American flag motifs and the text “United States of America 250.”

According to the U.S. Department of State, the limited‑edition passport was created to honor 250 years of American independence and will be available only while supplies last.

Officials said the commemorative passport will be issued exclusively through in‑person appointments at the Washington Passport Agency and at select special passport events nationwide.

They added that Americans who apply online, by mail, at embassies, consulates, or other passport offices will continue to receive the regular U.S. passport.

The redesign has sparked debate across the United States, with critics arguing that Trump is placing his personal identity on an official federal document.

Supporters, however, view it as a patriotic symbol that celebrates America’s history and democratic journey since independence.

The commemorative passport is the latest in a series of symbolic initiatives introduced during Trump’s second term as part of the nation’s 250th‑anniversary celebrations.
