US Army helicopter crashes near Strait of Hormuz

A United States Army helicopter gunship crashed near the Strait of Hormuz on Monday, and the two crew members were rescued unharmed.

It is still unclear whether the helicopter was downed by Iranian fire, suffered a mechanical failure, or encountered another issue.

The incident happened a few days after tensions in the area rose, following a series of military strikes exchanged between Israel and Iran before both sides de-escalated.

U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters early Tuesday that the crew were safe.

Trump did not give further details, stating that a formal report on the incident would be released soon.

At the time this report was filed, the U.S. military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) had not issued a comment.
