US AFRICOM Commander commends operation Hadin Kai

…Reaffirms support for Nigeria’s counter-terrorism efforts

Major General Claude Tudor, the commander of U.S. Special Operations Command Africa (SOCAFRICA), praised the successes of the Joint Task Force (North-East) in Operation Hadin Kai, noting that they demonstrate the Nigerian Armed Forces’ dedication and resilience in countering terrorism.

During a visit to the headquarters of Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Borno State, Maj. Gen. Tudor delivered the commendation and reaffirmed the United States’ long‑standing strategic partnership with Nigeria in fighting terrorism and violent extremism.

The commander of Operation Hadin Kai, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, briefed the U.S. delegation on current counter‑insurgency operations, highlighting recent gains, the current security climate, and the force’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability throughout the North‑East.

Tudor lauded the troops for their professionalism and achievements, stating that their work continues to make a substantial contribution to regional security.

He reiterated the United States’ commitment to bolstering defence cooperation with Nigeria through ongoing collaboration, capacity building, and the exchange of expertise to confront evolving security threats.

The visit highlights the expanding defence and security partnership between Nigeria and the United States, especially in counter‑terrorism, as both nations deepen cooperation aimed at defeating insurgency and strengthening stability in the Lake Chad Basin and the broader West African region.
