Unity Cup: Nigeria Aims for Consecutive Titles as Zimbabwe, India, and Jamaica Prepare for Showdown

The Unity Cup is set to take place at The Valley in London from May 26 to 30, featuring Nigeria, India, Zimbabwe, and Jamaica.

Nigeria claimed the title in the 2025 edition after defeating Jamaica in the final. The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe on Tuesday night, with the winner advancing to the tournament final.

The victor of the Nigeria‑Zimbabwe match will then play either Jamaica or India in the final. DAILY POST reports that Jamaica and India will meet on Wednesday in the other semi‑final.

In their last two encounters, Nigeria and Zimbabwe have split the results.

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle expressed confidence in the upcoming semi‑final against Zimbabwe. “Zimbabwe is a great team, a great team with strong players. They come with a lot of motivation. They want to win,” Chelle said in a pre‑match interview.

Speaking with DAILY POST ahead of the Tuesday night clash, Lagos‑based journalist Femi Fabunmi backed Chelle’s side. “When it comes to the Unity Cup, the Super Eagles of Nigeria are a super weight,” Fabunmi said. “They are the current holders and will not hesitate to win again. Among the four participants, Nigeria is the best ranked of all. Ordinarily and with the array of stars at Super Eagles’ disposal, they should put Zimbabwe to the sword,” he added.

The match between Nigeria and Zimbabwe is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
